2020 Summer Family Bucket List

June 5, 2020      10 Comments

summer family bucket list

Each year, as the weather starts to get warmer we start dreaming of summer fun and we start to put together our family bucket list for things we will do. This summer we’ve had to pivot as a family. Our annual beach trip was cancelled. Our weekly outings to the children’s museum and library were cancelled. Playdates, trips to the playground, you name it, all cancelled. At the beginning of April, it was becoming clear that we were going to need to re-think our entire approach to summer vacation.

We sat and thought and made a plan. Our plan is our 2020 Summer Family Bucket list! We’ve come up with a list of fun things we can do as a family to make this summer fun and memorable.

summer family bucket list: what’s included

Our list includes fun things like making s’mores under the stars, having a spa day, and building an epic blanket fort. It also includes fun opportunities for learning like completing a reading challenge (you can participate in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten if you have littles, or design your own challenge if you have older children) or having a STEM Challenge Day (there are some great ideas here).

Living in Central Texas means summer weather can get wacky. With that in mind, we’ve make sure to include plenty of indoor activities for those rainy days or days where you can cook an egg on the sidewalk (which would be a fun science activity

This is the first year we’ve done it, since we can’t do our usual summer stuff. We’ll be doing them every year from now on though, it’s fun!
